Intra School Debate Competition

Hindustan International School, Guindy – Intra School Debate Competition

As Joseph Joubert  puts it, “It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it.”  Hindustan Group of Schools’ initiative of organizing its First Intra School Debate Competition on 10th August 2019 was a step towards  nurturing and encouraging students’ communication skills. The activity was enthusiastically embraced by students from Guindy Campus, Karapakkam Campus and Padur Campus. The event was organized and hosted by the English Department of Hindustan International School, Guindy.

The debate was Chaired by Ms Haripriya , Cambridge Assessor and Trainer and distinguished parent judges ; Ms Vedhavalli (Faculty at Chettinad Vidyashram) , Ms Candace and Ms Nandini (Parent Advisors) along with our Joint Director.

The topic of the debate was “Impact of Video Gaming & Social Media on Students” Krish Iyer (Karapakkam) , Tanisha Dinesh (Karapakkam ) , Adam Starr (Guindy) and Harsh Dubey (Padur)were the best speakers of the competition and were awarded with trophies.  The Runner Up team was HIS , Guindy and the Champions were HIS ,Karapakkam.

The Joint Director addressed the young audience and spoke about the necessity to “choose what is best for oneself” in different facets of life; be it in video games , social networks, fashion, etc. To conclude the event, a small memento of appreciation was presented to the Chief Guest and the judges by the Joint Director followed by our National Anthem.
