Curling Event

HIS, Karapakkam organized a “Curling event” on 6 th March,2018 conducted by India
Curling Federation (US) with the aim of popularizing the sport in India. They are also aiming
to win a medal for India at the XXVI Olympic Winter games in 2030. Curling has been an
official sport in the Winter Olympic games since the 1998 Winter Olympics.
Curling is a team sport played by two teams of four players each on a rectangular
sheet of ice. When curling stone is thrown, athletes follow the movement of the stone and
'sweep' the ice surface using 'broom' to control the direction and speed of the stone.
Students of HIS, Karapakkam learnt a new sport with lots of fun and involvement. Hopefully
in the days to come we at HIS K will have more exciting new ventures.
