Nutrition Week

Summary of the Session:

With regard to the SDG Goal: 3-Good Health and Well-Being, the Nutrition Week was observed in our school from 01/09/2024 to 06/09/2024. The aim was to educate students about the importance of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle choices. The theme for this year’s nutrition week is “EATING FOR A HEALTHIER TOMORROW” . The week was filled with engaging activities and presentations designed to foster better eating habits and increase awareness about nutrition.

Objectives

  • To Educate students on the fundamentals of a balanced diet.
  • To Encourage healthy eating habits and physical activity.
  • To Promote awareness about the impact of nutrition on overall health.

Activities and Events
1. Interactive Activities

  • Healthy Eating Challenge: The learners were given a sample meal plan for a week that met nutritional guidelines.

2. Student Involvement

  • Activities: During the course of the week, learners were given activities such as picture book activity, presentation on malnutrition and checking the food label.

3. Organic Food Display

Students of Grade 1 to 9 were requested to bring Organic /Natural food from their home and display in their respective classes on 6thSeptember between 11 am to 12.15 pm

Outcomes

  • Increased Awareness: There was a noticeable increase in students’ awareness about nutrition, as evidenced by participation in activities and discussions.
  • Healthier Choices: Feedback indicated that students were more likely to choose healthier snacks and meals, with some reporting changes in their eating habits.
  • Community Engagement: Parents and guardians were actively involved, attending workshops and supporting the initiative at home.

Conclusion

Nutrition Week was a successful initiative in promoting healthier lifestyles within the school community. The combination of educational activities, interactive sessions, and practical advice created a comprehensive learning experience.
