FRANCE COUNTRY PRESENTATION

Introduction
Hindustan International School, Guindy, organized a Country Presentation on France. The presentation was delivered by Miss Helena Stephie Angelin, Master Arjun Ravindranath, Miss Avantika Rajesh, Miss Vaishnavi Anantharam, Miss Keerthipriya, and Master Sairam Murugan. The students worked collaboratively to research and present France’s geography, history, culture, government, economy, wildlife, sports, tourism, and special features.
The presentation aimed to develop students’ research, communication, teamwork, leadership, and presentation skills, while creating awareness about France’s rich heritage and its contributions to the world.
Presentation Overview
The programme began with an introduction by Miss Helena Stephie Angelin, the team leader, followed by a short video showcasing the beauty of France.
Master Arjun Ravindranath presented France’s geographical features, including its location, neighbouring countries, major cities, mountains, rivers, plains, coastlines, and climate. The audience was introduced to the Alps, Pyrenees, Seine, Loire, Rhône, and the country’s distinctive nickname, “L’Hexagone.”
Miss Avantika Rajesh presented the history and culture of France, covering the Gauls, Roman rule, monarchy, French Revolution, Napoleon, the World Wars, and the Fifth Republic. Important personalities such as Joan of Arc, Louis XIV, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Charles de Gaulle were highlighted. The section also explored French language, religion, arts, cuisine, traditions, festivals, fashion, and architecture. Miss Vaishnavi Anantharam explained France’s government and economy, including the Fifth Republic, the President, Prime Minister, Parliament, and major economic sectors such as services, agriculture, tourism, aerospace, luxury goods, pharmaceuticals, and automobiles.
Miss Helena Stephie Angelin presented France’s wildlife and conservation efforts, featuring dolphins, flamingos, golden eagles, lynx, red deer, and wolves. The role of the Société Protectrice des Animaux (SPA) in animal welfare was also highlighted.
Miss Keerthipriya presented France’s sporting culture, focusing on football, cycling, and the Tour de France, along with adventure activities such as skiing, hiking, mountain biking, surfing, sailing, and rafting. Popular destinations including Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Biarritz, the French Riviera, and Verdon Gorge were introduced.
Master Sairam Murugan concluded the main presentation by highlighting France’s special features, including its culinary heritage, the TGV, and French contributions such as Braille, pasteurization, and cinema. Famous tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, Palace of Versailles, Mont-Saint-Michel, and Disneyland Paris were also showcased.
Question and Answer Session
An interactive Question and Answer session followed the presentation. Questions covered French inventions, personalities, agriculture, aerospace, transport, energy, museums, and cuisine. The session encouraged audience participation and reinforced the key points presented by the students.
Following the session, Miss Helena Stephie Angelin invited the team members to respond to questions from the audience. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Master Arjun Ravindranath, who expressed gratitude to the school management, Head of School, Chief Guest, teachers, parents, and students. He concluded with the words, “Merci beaucoup et vive la France!”

The presentation successfully enabled students to:
- Develop research, public speaking, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
- Gain knowledge about France’s geography, history, culture, economy, wildlife, sports, and tourism.
- Appreciate France’s contributions to science, technology, arts, and global culture.
- Develop cultural awareness and respect for international diversity.
- Build confidence through collaborative preparation and stage presentation.
