Annual Sports Meet – 2019

“The moment of victory is much too short to live for that and nothing else,” said Martina Navratilova, tennis player. Apart from commemorating victories, sports meets also aim at imparting lessons on sportsman spirit and camaraderie to children.

Hindustan International School, Guindy hosted its Fourth Annual Sports Meet on February 2nd , 2019. The day was marked with great fervor and joy as the students unleashed their innate capabilities and discovered true grit and perseverance.

Mr.Shakil Akhter, Additional Airector General of Police was the Chief Guest of the day. The day started off with the lovely rendition by the school choir as they paid their homage to Lord Almighty followed by the welcome address by the School Captain Master Isaac Louis. The school flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest following which he declared the sports meet open. The march past of the four houses namely Mahatma Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher, Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela was one of the major competitive events as the four houses eyed for the first position.

The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Sports Captain. Flame of peace was lit by the members of the student council and star athletes of Hindustan International School, Guindy.

The Chief Guest addressed the gathering after which the drill performances were followed. The children from the Pre Primary gave a sizzling performance using scarfs and Hula hoops to show their sportsman spirit. The highlight of the day was the tiny cheerleaders in their pretty outfits who motivated and cheered and grooved on foot tapping numbers.

Students from Primary level showcased their drill performances using fans. Korean Calisthenics performed by Grade 2 students stole the hearts of many as they emphasized on the mobility and flexibility. The Parachute drill, Zumba performance and the Flag drill performed by the students from Grade 3 to 9 were a visual treat.

The track events of all grades filled the air with heart pounding moments, moments of cheer and delight. The young achievers were awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals by the guests of the day. The Best march past trophy and the Overall Championship Trophy was awarded to the Abraham Lincoln house who scored 366 points.
