Baby Turtle Farewell 2026
As part of its ongoing sustainability initiatives, Hindustan International School, Guindy, organized the Baby Turtle Farewell Ceremony on April 17, 2026, at Elliot’s Beach, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 14: Life Below Water. The event provided students and parents with a unique, hands-on conservation experience, where they witnessed the safe release of hatchlings into the sea under expert guidance. Inspired by Chennai’s local conservation efforts, the programme included an educational talk on marine life preservation and the importance of protecting endangered species like the Olive Ridley turtle.
The initiative was open to students from Grade 3 onwards, with participation limited to ensure a safe and meaningful experience. Students attended in school uniform and were accompanied by parents, while transport arrangements were coordinated through the school. The event not only created awareness about marine conservation but also nurtured Cambridge learner attributes by encouraging students to become responsible and engaged global citizens. Through such impactful experiences, the school continues to foster environmental stewardship and inspire young learners to contribute towards a sustainable future.
