Agenda
The agenda of “Oratory Odyssey” was to provide students with a platform to develop their public-speaking, critical-thinking and debating skills. The competition aimed to encourage students to express their ideas confidently, present logical arguments and respect diverse perspectives while engaging in meaningful discussions on contemporary issues.
Introduction
The Hindustan International School, Guindy, hosted the Inter-School Debate Competition – “Oratory Odyssey” on Saturday, 12th September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event brought together enthusiastic young debaters from various schools, providing them with an enriching platform to express their views, engage in thought-provoking discussions and demonstrate their confidence and communication skills.
The competition was conducted at two venues. Categories 1 and 2 were held at the Guindy Auditorium, while Categories 3 and 4 were conducted at the St. Thomas Auditorium.
Proceedings of the Event
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation across all categories. Students demonstrated commendable preparation, confidence and clarity while presenting their arguments. Their speeches reflected logical reasoning, awareness of contemporary issues and the ability to articulate opinions with conviction.
The participants also displayed strong rebuttal skills, responding thoughtfully to counterarguments and demonstrating respect for differing opinions. The judges appreciated the students for their preparation, content, delivery, confidence and overall presentation.
The event culminated in the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where the winners were recognised for their outstanding performances. All participants were also appreciated for their courage, effort and enthusiastic involvement in the competition.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, faculty members, judges, participating schools, teachers and students whose support and involvement contributed to the success of the event.

Conclusion
