Event Overview
The school celebrated Ponnonam ’26, a vibrant Onam celebration, with great enthusiasm and participation from students across all grades. As part of the celebration, a Pookolam competition was conducted, with students of all grades creating beautiful and colourful floral designs in their respective classrooms.
The programme began with a warm Welcome Address by the Head of School, Dr. Lalli C. K. This was followed by an inspiring
Onam message delivered by Anshitha of Grade 10, highlighting the cultural significance and values associated with the festival.
The students of Grades 4 and 5 presented a lively Mahabali Skit, portraying the legendary story of King Mahabali and bringing the spirit of Onam alive on stage.
Students of Grades 1 to 3 delighted the audience with a graceful and energetic Welcome Dance.
The cultural celebrations continued with a vibrant Onam Dance by students of Grades 6 to 8, followed by a traditional and elegant Thiruvathira performance by students of Grades 9 to 12.
A lively Question and Answer Session engaged the students and added an interactive element to the celebration.
The School Band then enthralled the audience with an energetic musical performance.
The programme also included an Eid Milad-un-Nabi speech by Aanam of Grade 6, celebrating the spirit of harmony and togetherness.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Satvika of Grade 12, expressing gratitude to the school leadership, teachers, students, and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
The Poononam ’26 celebration was a memorable occasion that beautifully showcased the students’ creativity, talents, cultural heritage, and spirit of unity. It was a joyous
celebration that reflected the true essence of Onam—togetherness, gratitude, and happiness.
Objectives
- To create awareness among students about the cultural significance and traditions of Onam and the values associated with the festival.
- To provide students with opportunities to showcase their creativity and artistic talents through the Pookolam competition.
- To develop students’ confidence, communication, and public-speaking skills
through speeches, skits, the Q&A session, and the vote of thanks. - To encourage teamwork, cooperation, leadership, and responsibility through group performances and classroom activities.
- To promote appreciation of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage, including traditional dance, music, and the story of Mahabali.
- To foster unity, inclusiveness, mutual respect, and communal harmony through the inclusion of an Eid Milad-un-Nabi message.
- To provide a joyful and meaningful platform for students to participate actively in school celebrations.
